Leona was fine in XII and will be simply awesome with her standing D (2 hit) restored – ideally she needs to have an instant air qcf hcb K which link from hop up D (to break guard of crouching opponents) with the usual c B, c A, Moon Slash.
Hmmm new VA for Ash? Didn’t know that! Actually I did report that he sounded more um…. feminine, but I thought it was the same VA as before.
You guys should check out some of the latest vids I uploaded to the ON youtube channel- (on the right column) – because if we have cancels then we might be for some of this kind of action…. and it gets kinda crazy!!!
Don’t forget that Mitsuhiro Ichiki is Ash Crimson’s new Japanese voice actor.
Thoughts:
– agreed on duo lon being seemingly lots more mobile than his XII incarnation
– elizabeth looks fun to play again with the “easy mode” juggle properties on her DM (hit-confirm off a j.A aerial hit..?)
– takuma looks fun to play, though it might be his bassass “i’m going to break your neck” pose and the fact that he ended his match with a haoshoukouken… (it should blow king’s clothes off IMHO) *throwback*
– athena on crack reminds me of that one 2k2 match vid where she was bum-cancelling billy kane’s… err… cane. teleport seems pretty fast, with a better recovery than in XII.
– mature still looks pretty underwhelming (would rather have seen vice in action here). and why does her projectile look like heidern’s cross cutter? the old animation (crescent animation) used to be able to be used as a poor man’s anti-air wasn’t it? oh well…
– having second thoughts about king and yuri. they seem pretty straightforward especially king. perhaps we’ll see more gimmicks with them in the future.
– i’m going to call this now. i think kula will be a very popular character choice. she’s generally been an easy pickup-and-play character with fun moves. we’ll have to wait and see if her combo damage potential can keep up with the likes of, say, kyo.
– the change in raiden’s VA makes me sad. the original VA passed away, yes? =(
anyone hear or see anything on leona? i’ve always had fun using her as a main, even though i thought she was pretty poor in XII.
Duo Lon seems like he’s become a beast again too. Not quite 2003 tier, but very close if these videos are any indication of the way he can move around now.
Okay judging from the video, Athena is really, really fast. And Elizabeth DM is broken if she can actually follow it up after any mid-air attack. Hopefully it may be tweaked near its release…?

Clark: Oh yeah Gatling punch is going to be great for corner pressure! When Clark lands after an air attack which is blocked, he can poke and then use the gatling to counter the opponents next move, which means the opp is scared, will block and so can be grabbed ๐
Raiden: Wth is up with his crossups! It’s like Rufus’s BS – attack from front, but suddenly he’s behind you. Sheesh. Still, wrestling FTW. BLACK TIGER!!!

Throw offs are back in full effect ๐ and the old CD counter like crazy style… hmmm
The special move cancelling is going to be tough work, as you can see, it will reward those who can do it… especially Kyo.
Kensou’s RDP looks too laggy to use as instant anti air, and his fireball seems also to have a slow startup but he’s still got his tap combos.
2nd match:
I wonder if Crackshoot is still an overhead?
Ryo’s QCF C brings him forward half a step… this will give him more pressure on his attack but also could make him more much more vulnerable if done too close.
K’ keeps his glasses on all the time. Hah… he’s going to be such a pain.
Did you spot Shermie in the King vs Ryo round? ๐
Kyo’s j dwn C reminds me of CVS… knockdown only which is going to slow down his attack – it gives the opponent a chance to breathe and think.

Athena: woah. I’ve seen this type of play before, making her look faster than she actually is by back dashing and pyschoshooting mixed with teleports. If her LK teleport distance is short, then she’ll be able to do her crossup/throw mind games. With a little online lag, it’s going to get nasty. Obligatory prayer for netcode goes here.
The EX fireball game seems just like SF. Uh… well it’ll keep things fresh.
