Mr KOF defeats No17
At Alex’s Arcade they staged a tournament, with No 17 (Kunio) in attendance, having travelled from Mexico. Check out the videos here (batteries ran out so no footage of grand finals). For those who been living under a rock, after the demise of their beloved Arcade Infinity, the XIII cabinet was rescued by The Answer (from www.dreamcancel.com) and moved to Orange County. The entire AI crew has moved as well; it’s a good day for KOFers!

Yep, the American sticks are the sluggish “360 style” bat top sticks that you’ll need your entire arm in order to input a qcf motion. We literally had a guy, StolenHopes, come back and say my arm hurts (and he’s a big guy too).
We endured those for the first years at Southern California Golfland (which is now close down–home of famous Capcom player Alex Valle etc…) and it was the one I was using during the kofml days. Ugh.
You’re right though, most ppl don’t appreciate what we organizers go thorough; anybody can be a critic.
You guys are doing great work! Stuff happens, anyone sitting with popcorn has no idea what it takes. Now… don’t tell me Kunio had to play on a bat top stick…
Firstly, that’s the sickest preview frame for the youtube. One of our regulars, Duc, suggest that all Shen needs is a photoshop’d shield and spear and it’ll be complete.
The tourney was amazing to watch the one hour I was there (it was a busy week for me between moving and joint birthday with my lady) and the group did spend the entire week prior trying to get the Direct Feed to work. Frusting hours, one burnt convertor, $150 later, we decided to go with old camera style. If I had known we were only going to rely on my camera then I would have left my back up battery with them as well.
Kunio, in his “true form” (American sticks vs Japanese stick) is nothing to scoff at especially him being very humble saying that he’s not good lol.
