NGBC Netcode – A Glimmer of Hope?

   FGC News ,   June 14, 2010  5 Comments

NGBC was released for xbox live a few days ago, and it has reports of decent netcode.? This is good news if it means that SNK has been working to please the western fans, as I speculated they had to!

Having a quick flick across the mainstream sites, while reviews are not exactly favourable (with IGN making reference to the dire 360 pad as an actual reason not to play the game) they seem to confirm that online play is good.

This can only light a torch at the end of the tunnel for those on the XIII ride… it’s an uncertain journey for us western fans… but as long as the same netcode gets used for XIII, there’s just a little glimmer of hope!

Man its sad people stopped playing this great port for 360′, the netcode was good too, at least i got in a bunch of matches

A player from the mainstream can’t handle any fighting game, let alone KOF. The reviews cater for them, not for the fighting game fan…
Whoever made that statement for EGM was probably trying to attract attention rather than say anything substantial. SSF was cheap and is even cheaper now – I’m not even going to waste my time with this.
On the other hand, as I said on the forums, I’m annoyed xbox has all the SNK titles; I heard that it’s cheaper to develop for the 360, which makes sense with SNK’s current situation but I’m still annoyed that I can’t even pay to play 98 online. Waiting for XIII has caused me to dust off the PS2 and play 2k2um. But without opponents…

You can very, very rarely rely on the opinions of mainstream review sites to give you an educated opinion on a fighting game anyway. Electronic Gaming Monthly just revived and decided to bitch about how Super Street Fighter IV offered less value than any of the original Street Fighter II updates. Nevermind the game was 40 bucks and had far more characters than any of those ever did. Back when the KOF 2000/2001 and 2002/2003 packages for PS2 were released reviewers just wanted to cite the dated graphics as reasons not to play the games.

You play fighting games, you gotta say to hell with the popular opinion.
