NorCal Regionals KOF XIII Results

   FGC News ,   November 22, 2010  7 Comments

Taking a 6 hour drive, the hardcore Arcade Infinity Crew represented at NorCal, without Mr. KOF and Reynald.

Highlights

  • The new rep for Namco, FilthieRich, joined in to play
  • Much bigger turnout for XIII than SoCal (although this may be due to the exposure gained there, rather than a difference in fan numbers).
  • SNK upped the prizes by giving out Hori sticks
  • AI crew claimed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place (Kane317? blaming the 8 way gate on the stick)

Kudos to Giby from SNK-Capcom for helping out SNKP – I hope they’re not totally abusing you – although as an SNK fan, you’d probably like it xD

I did tell the standing representative for SNKP, Vinh, to tell SNK to take their sweet time with release of the console as long as they get the netcode right.

He agreed with me 100% and it seemed like that was what SNK was intending coz he made it sound like it could have been released ages ago.

We’re still wondering who is going to handle the publishing for XIII, and if it’s going to be SNKP, they will need a rep to handle the fans. Their FB page is a step in the right direction, but er… the interaction is a little lacking. As for Netcode, we all know it’s a make or break for KOF…

  3. DarkDreamTCK says:

At this point, as Mieu has stated, SNK can just go ahead and release the console version of XIII. But, they HAVE TO GET A GOOD NETCODE! The netcode can very easily kill KOF XIII on consoles.

I actually know Filty, and it’s his connections with the gaming community as a whole (active member of SDTekken, then as an MLG rep, before being recommended by both parties to hold a position within Namco-Bandai), as well as his own skills with fighting games, that ultimately carried him to where he is at. He definitely loves the fighting game community, but at the end of the day, his job is not to tell people about this game.

SNKP can do more (and they are; I truly envy those who won the prizes at both SCR and NCR), and in this case involving the KOF community would be a step towards the right direction for them.

Fixed and sorry for typos – I blame lag.
As for a Namco rep playing KOF, that can only mean the hype train is doing well. Doesn’t mean he’ll play it again, but if it’s fun, he might tell someone – then again, as Namco rep… would he?

  6. Kane317 says:

Couple of typos. Reynald not Reynard 🙂
Duc is from AI as well.
    I did come third.

  7. Mieu says:

In b4 some jackass complains about a Namco/Tekken representative has the gall to play a different game and/or that KOF XIII isn’t focused on as much during NCR.

At this point the ball’s really in SNKP’s court. It’s getting a LOT of love from even other communities, and it’s really more about SNKP handling the marketing for the game at this point to make sure enough people buy it.
