Retro Reality KOF 95 Laserdisk
One of our community members, Arasoi, has opened up a new website about Retro gaming, and has uploaded a load old laserdisks (LD).? If you’re old enough you may remember walking into an import shop and seeing these huge discs which only the more wealthy fan could watch (yes they probably had a neogeo AES too).
These laserdiscs were perhaps the first format on which you would have vmooks, such as Gamest’s guide to Street Fighter, but also other kinds of material like following the story of Samurai Spirits (Shodown) with all the dialogue spoken by the Seiyuu (voice actor) and superplays, where some crazy player would beat a game perfectly.
Here’s the first part of the KOF 95 LD.

Other uploads include: Turbo Outrun Live, Super Darius Perfection and Garou Densetsu Special.
Head on down to the site to check these out!? Subscribe to their twitter feed to stay updated.

You’re welcome! When I heard the music I thought it could be something C64 but didn’t want to sound so friggin old lol
I am Heretic, the co-owner/web designer of Retro Reality, and I would like to thank you for the great article as well, Gunsmith.
We are working to get the newer site up soon, as well as a forum. You can catch updates here: http://twitter.com/RetroReality .
BTW, the intro sting music we use in our videos IS originally based from music in the Transformers movie from 1986, but it was some how used in the Commodore 64 intro screen of Turrican (1990). The version you hear in our intro sting is the C64 Turrican version. Gotta love the SID chip and good call on that.
Thanks again.
LOL you gotta be an old-school geek like me to recognise the Tansformers BGM at the beginning of the video ^^;
ah…..old video game commercials, they don’t make em like the old days anymore
Those laser disk captures are nothing short of magnificent.
Thank you very much for the front page plug, Gunsmith.
We have a few more forthcoming laserdisc rips on tap, a full set of Capcom Friendly Club VHS tapes containing commercials, staff interviews and tournaments, as well as footage of unemulated/improperly emulated arcade games in MAME, recorded from original JAMMA pcbs.
Once our site is up completely, we also plan on posting hardware mod articles for retro consoles and computers, classic game reviews, and podcasts. Stay tuned!
My uncle had a player. damn the quality was great back in its day
