Radio Kaikan Building

The Radio Kaikan Building has a lot of history, and it’s featured in Stein’s Gate, but if you visited after 2014, you won’t recognise it!  There’s a ton of stuff to see here, a recommended visit!  Here are some photos and some notes, plus some old photos to show you how it looked and what goodies you could get!

The original building was closed and demolished in 2011.  It looked like this!

Then in 2014 it re-opened and now you can see the classic sign. in 2019 it looked like this.

Today, it is a tourist hotspot, easily walkable from Akihabara station, at the top of the strip.  It has several floors of stores, but being a tourist favourite, it’s now harder to find the rare goodies as stock is more tuned to the popular brands and series.  Still, it’s easy to navigate and has some good stores that are worth a look, although the prices may be much lower elsewhere.

Basement floor

This is worth a mention because it has a showcase area.  Vendors will rent the space to show you upcoming figures or even anime.

By the way, there are display areas around the basement of the train station so keep your eyes peeled.

I gotta go play some games so I’ll come back later to add more stuff.
