I need to think about this and I'll probably add a few. One that stands out in the SNES era was defeating Smithy in Super Mario RPG. That... was hard...

Re: Your crowning gaming achievement.
It's hard to say off the top of my head. I guess there was that one time on GTA IV when I jumped out of a helicopter over Times Square (or Liberty Square or whatever they called it), ricocheted off a billboard, and careened into a pedestrian NPC. The person my character landed on was killed, but somehow my character survived.
I'm sure I've got other stories that could qualify, and I'd have a hard time choosing. Why just the other night in SF3 3SS I did a nice red parry into capture & deadly blow, landing both followup dash punches whilst being pretty well intoxicated. Maybe not the most amazing thing but kind of impressive considering.

Re: Your crowning gaming achievement.
Many years ago, at the Timezone in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, there were many, many fighting game cabinets. Sadly, none of them are there now, but that's beside the point.
I went there one day, and among the fighting game cabinets, there was Soul Calibur 2.
I beat the game by spamming Kilik's A+B spinning move thing.
I was impressed because this was back when I thought arcade games were supposed to be impossible (and before I knew fighting games were played competitively).
Also, I kinda think that going 3-3 in my first SF tournament was pretty good, too.

Playing Sonic 2006 without ever throwing a controller. Although I was tempted to take up alcohol afterwards
(In all seriousness I don't think I've done anything worth noting in any of the video games I've played)

In my arcade-hopping days, I once made 50 cents last for 3 hours. Ah the thrifty years...

Re: Your crowning gaming achievement.
Beating Ninja Gaiden on the NES. Wasn't without many many months of tears beforehand.
Acing the local Tekken 3 champ at a party in a best of 7. He thought he was such hot shit until I dropped the bass (aka Marshall Law) on him. I'll tell the actual story later.

Winning 3rd Clan Tourney of Cosmic Break, and coming #1 on the scoreboard, no Game Warrior though.

Re: Your crowning gaming achievement.
I would have to say it was when I finished my first JRPG, Valkyrie Profile. Until now it's influence still reverberates into things that I do.
I guess it would take some time before I replace that moment because I still don't have any console from this generation. Maybe my next gaming achievement, will be to actually buy a console from this generation.

Re: Your crowning gaming achievement.
My greatest moments in gaming are...
- Beating Megaman X4 without ever getting hit.
- Beating Megaman X2 without Armor Upgrades or any power ups
- Beating Super Mario World: Kaizo Edition Rom Hack
- Getting over 24 straight victories on KOFXIII in a row within a seven hour period of time
- Beating SNES Mortal Kombat 2 on the hardest difficultly with Sub-Zero without losing a match (somehow).
- Getting 100% completion on Rocket: Robot on Wheels
- Defeating Bass in Megaman Battle Network 2 and 3 (Bass GX in MMBN3)
- Collecting all 151 in Pokemon Yellow (that was 11 years ago)...
- As of recent... Finally beating Yoshi's Island after about 14 years. (Emulators are awesome to me).

Re: Your crowning gaming achievement.
In a competitive sense, the time I racked up like 42 consecutive wins in Soul Edge. I was playing Seung Mina against the same guy. However, once he finally beat me once, the paychological advantage had swung in his favor and I could no longer beat the guy. I think he earned that right.
Other stuff:
- Got all final characters to best level 99 in Final Fantasy II/IV; in addition I once got Dark Knight Cecil up to like level 40 or so
- Discovered the population boost trick in ROTK III, at least among the English-speaking community
- demonstrated the power of Kasumi in KoF 99 to several Singapore players (to be fair they were probably letting me pull off counters)
