Trailer from TGS.
http://www.gamespot.com/video/935218/61 ... -trailer-1
The final four characters are (like I thought) EX characters - EX King, EX Yamazaki, EX Mary and EX Geese.

Interview with Dr NeoGeo on Gamespot Japan (which I didn't even know existed):
http://japan.gamespot.com/ps2/news/stor ... 987,00.htm
I'm not going to translate the whole thing, but the key points are:
- The newly added characters are their versions from their appearances in KOF'94-'98. So Eiji is his '95 version rather than his XI version.
- EX King is her AOF2 version. EX Mary and EX Geese have moves which haven't appeared in any of their KOF appearances before.
- They've tried to make the EX characters significantly different from the normal versions so they will be quite different to play. In some cases they're even using graphical effects and sound effects from the original games.
- There are new stages, mostly from Asia (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc) to show their appreciation for KOF's high popularity in that region. There are also 3D stages, but the 2D stages can be used as well.
- You can choose to play either KOF'98UM or the original KOF'98 online...although this probably isn't going to help most of us :P
- They've added a lot of character-specific themes from the original games. Apparently the song where Athena, Kensou and Chin sang a song on the NGCD version of '95 is in there?
- Benimaru seems to have a new DM called "Raikou Katategoma." I think from the name you can figure out what it does.
- Vice's QCFx2+P DM (the leaping grab) now has a mid-air version.
- Chin got a new DM based on one of his winposes? Apparently it OTGs.

Ex Andy has the FatalBlurry Realbout-o giant fireball he throws. Of which once thrown Andy can still move. Good for guardcrushing.
Thats from the screenshot in the commercial ad.
Other moves he could have are the fatalfury 3 jumping stranglehold (leads to infinity) or the jumping air grab into eye gouge from realbout-o.
p.s. I actually really like that shuriken energy blast on a downed opponent from realbout (crosses fingers).

is it me, or does the game look a bit brighter? See Saishryu's clothing. Still wondering what this "ult" mode is. red and light blue bars next to it along with the 5 power stocks (just assuming).. hmm... would snk be considering an arcade release?

I got this from a Chinese KOF website...
Notes:
1. We see the character Order Select portraits of Eiji and Kasumi (we saw Geese, Krauser and Big in a video before)
2. Even Eiji is in his '95 self, his Zantetsu Ha is elevated into a DM.
3. Sadly, Kasumi has only one DM.

There's a third groove they've added in addition to Advanced and Extra, called Ultimate. This seems to let you mix and match subsystems from both modes. So you could have the manual charging of Extra with running and rolling, if you wanted.

ah, thanks for that. I totally forgot about it. So what's the blue and red bars next to the word "ult"? do they represent anything? Hmm, I take it you can either dodge/roll, manual/auto charge, hop/run? IMO, apart from Kyo's hopping infinite, replacing the hop with a run in Extra mode = GODMODE.SonicTempest wrote:As I mentioned earlier:Derrick wrote: Still wondering what this "ult" mode is. red and light blue bars next to it along with the 5 power stocks (just assuming).. hmm... would snk be considering an arcade release?

erm, sorry, I think only clark and daimon can dodge (with BCD) in 96.Kyosuke Kagami wrote:Not that much, really. It'd be like playing 96, with a roll that doesn't suck and with non-retarded CD attacks *looks at Mature*
I was talking about being able to run, dodge and manual charge.
in 96, you can run charge and roll (not dodge).
Mature's CD, ya that's insane. ....and who can forget Ryo's glitched multiple blocked C/CD? I have to admit, I had only started playing 95 when 96 came out.
So, apart from new chars, are there any changes worth mentioning about the exisiting chars? Did they give any chars more "new" moves (from the later series)?
