KOF: Another Days review

Post by CruelAngel777 » Sun Apr 23, 2006 12:54

Hi. I show up every few months at random to drop a review on yo punk arse!!

*ahem*

First of all I'll say this: KOF: AD is very very short. It's a 4 episode web series set right before the events of KOF Maximum Impact 2. Apparently a fire has broke out over SouthTown as the two main characters from the first MI (Soiree and the other lame character) try to help out the the people in the city. They soon find out that this is no ordinary fire as it's bringing out some suspicious (and irritable) tourists. Of course below and above the fire wheels are turning with talks of kidnapped personel and Geese legacy.........

EPISODE 1:

Soiree, the male stripper risks life and limb to save some of Southtowns inhabitants. Athena (on her way to perform a concert) is caught in traffic because of the blaze, so she decides to help out. Somehow Mai shows up (Lesbian stalker). Cue Soiree somehow survivng an insane move to save this lemming-like little girl. Iori shows up initiating a fight between him and Soiree. I skipped the details not only because of spoilers but because I thought that the way the fight started was just HI-FREAKIN-LARIOUS! Iori has reclaimed a fan. This ep also reveals that KOF: MI 2 will probably follow KOF XI's endings (I don't even want to think of the cannon right now, gives me gas) thanks to this fight.

Mini review for EP 1: A+ for Iori punching that stupid stripper.

EPISODE 2:

Rock freaks out after having an ominous dream involving him and Terry (Off that yaoi button you perv). Heading out despite the strict reprimanding of Terry (He must of really like that orange juice. He didn't even try to move) Rock spots a picture of someone he holds dear almost immedieatlely followed by a sudden blue light hitting the roof of a skyscraper off in the distance. Turns out Billy Kane is fighting the chick from Maximum Impact 1 in the banana suit that's built like a rap video extra. Talk of eliminating any traces of Gesse's legacy is spoken which upsets Billy's magic stick. Fisticuffs ensue, Rock runs very fast cause he shows up almost seconds later. More fisticuffs. The ending is likeable, Terry is such a softie.......

Mini review for EP 2: A for having two fights and that girl's ghetto booty.

EPISODE 3:

K' and Maximo are on the search for a missing scientist they believe is located somwhere in SouthTown. Using the city's fire as a means of distraction they proceed to sneak thru the underground portion of the city. The ep starts with Max and K' at the base of operations for some unknown organization with high technology. K' is bored, he wants the espionage to have more "Bang". Well the base is operated by The Ikari Warriors who have now identified them running around the corridors and are in pursuit. Whip is helping Ikari (don't ask me why). As M & K try to make their escape via subway train Ralf, Clack, and Leona go all Predator 2 on their asses. Leading to probably the best fight in the entire 4 episodes, a betrayal, and foreshadowing of somebody or bodies working behind the scenes that no one knows about.

Mini review for EP 3: A++ This will bring up a ton of questions for MI 2. Everybody was doing bad ass things especially Maxima.........I don't even like Maxima. Also the ending is a bit WTF with Whip and all. Seriously........

EPISODE 4:

Basically Kyo Kusanagi is chasing Ash Crimson. Kyo reveals his (I'm thinking Orochinagi Slayer technique but it's hard to tell) to cut a falling structure in half before it kills him. Alba sees this and comes to the conclusion that Kyo started the city's fire. They have a nice sit down discussion over coffee.......................... Well that would be smarter than beating each others brains out, but that is lame. Commence ass stomping cause KOF is not for Madden fans and other such girly men. No spoilers huh..........Ash get's attacked by a butterfly(?) person, Iori intereferes in an unexpected way, and Kyo offers to light a cigarette......uh

mini review of EP 4: B. The final ep is ehh compared to the others.

The animation is of very high quality despite how short it is (the episodes are at the most 9 minutes long). Episdoe 3 really shows this thanks to the bits of 1st person Maxima view. I believe the voice actors from the KOF games supplied their talents to AD also, which is to be expected in this case. The music is really good. Matrix-like techno beats that cued up during fight scenes really accent the battles. The battles, though short, are well choreographed. Well episode 1 thru 3 anyway. KOF: Another Day is SNK Playmore's "ANimatrix" for KOF Maximum Impact 2 (you may have to re-read that again). Nothing ground breaking but it's fun to watch. Think of it as an extended opening cutscene for MI 2. It's good that SNK is putting some real effort into promoting this game. We all know that it's only a matter of time before they drop the 2D for good. I know I'm a little scared too.......

OVERALL: Just go download it already. I'm sure you already have.

I always though that the first one was the best episode. Slacker Terry in the second was pretty amusing, though.

I actually didn't like Another Day seeing as it was so freaking short!! Finally get a KOF anime and its just really short with a really hard to like ending seeing as Elizabeth and Ash didn't appear in MI2 at all. Iori still had his powers and such and Whip never made it into the game and even in Reg A she didn't make the roster so where does she fit in...Terry lazing about was nice and nothing wrong with Lien's well endowed backside and over exaggerated bust. Iori also proved that he didn't need flames to overpower Soiree who isn't as pleasing as I thought now that they have brought Richard meyer back.
