As featured in Real Bout Fatal Fury, the Shinkyo Bridge (??, Shinky?, “sacred bridge”) is the entrance to Nikko’s shrines and temples. In Japan this bridge is one of the top three ranking finest bridges!
This bridge was actually constructed in 1636, over one that had been there for much longer, with exact origins being a mystery. The bridge was actually off limit to the public until 1973 and due to its historic value and cost of renovations, visitors will need to pay a fee to cross it!
This isn’t in Tokyo, you’ll need to take a train so it’s not recommended to come all this way just for a bridge, the many temples here are a better reason, perhaps as a stop on your way to Yokohama or Kamakura, unless of course the bridge has a special place in your heart…
