I'm sure alot of ppl whether being players or fanboys would rather see XII more than 98UM simply because XII is brand new. We've seen 98 for ages. Putting tweaks in is still the same old crap. But from a business point of view, everyone knows making 98UM is MUCH easier than making a new game and it's instant access to easy profit.

That's all nice but actually what I'm saying is this move probably means that XII is taking longer than they hoped, so they had to find something to fill the gap like Neowave did between '03 and XI. I really don't think it was planned this way from the start, since originally this was only announced as a PS2 game. So what it means is that XII is still far, far away.

meh, Give me a KOF 2008 Dreammatch on atomiswave! XI chars plus all the character roster over the kof series. :D

I would love to see 98/02 choi versus 03/XI malin (03 is stronger IMO), or Rugal vs Adel matchup! Put in Kim's 2 sons and let them form a team.

The Ash saga can wait hee hee..

Hmm.. how long have we been waiting since they announced that XII was in the makings?

I think the old-skool just want to play 98's system the most, with more characters. It's the system that was so good to play (ie. easy and fun) oh and with the great music and backgrounds.

I finally get XI and NGBC is on the way and now SNK throws another amazing game out. I don't know if I can wait the 5 years it'll take for an American port.

Apparently KOF 98 UM was on show in the Hong Kong Asian Game Show...

According to FightClub there were two units available for playing, and it seems like the game was completed (for PS2).

The 4 EX characters should be:
- Yamazaki
- Mary (RB2 version)
- O. Iori
- O. Leona

And then below are just translated by pretty much word by word, but I'll try to consolidate things together.

Overall stuff:
- EX characters have their portraits different from their original ones.
- Extra mode is different now. After filling the bar, they can choose to execute a DM OR a stock burst (A+B+C). Flashing blood now doesn't allow spamming DMs, after one execution it will take a bit of time to 'reflash' for a free DM.
- Ultimate mode has a blue power bar. There's also two 'stocks' that's indicating whether the user chose run/step and roll/evade.
- Single player mode will have a mid-boss after your fourth opponent, it may be Shingo, Eiji or Kasumi.

- Clark has an anti-air DM.
- Eiji's qcb+P is done on the ground, lost grab super (hcbx2+P). Laggier now, basically same inputs as XI version. New move, qcf+P in air, it's an air projectile.
- Geese has f+B, but seemingly can't link into Reppuken. Raising Storm is a 'smaller' version of the RB version. Air fireball is rather large. One of his counters has a DM followup which looks cool.
- Leona can move while doing qcb+P.
- Chizuru's qcf+A doesn't have many space afterwards (dunno what this means)
- Heavy D's qcf+A knocks away now. Also qcfx2+K is his powerup DM, lasts about 10 seconds.
- EX Mary has b,f+K like Leona's (same motion), and then there are two choices afterwards (A or B). A is grab and B is something like her jump D. (more on her later, there's a lot of info here)
- Goenitz's hcf+A/B/C/D can OTG. dp+P can 'grab' the opponent so they can take the full hits. New move, a running grab of sorts, hcb,f+P. Dash forward and then standing C, with a grab by the neck and wind pillar.
- EX Kyo has 95 Kyo sound effects.
- Beni has a new DM, something like his qcb+P with some Raikoken.
- Terry now has Round Wave, and SDM Power Geyser now has RBS looks. (I think he meant EX Terry).
- Andy now has his qcb+C move after KOF 99.
- Athena has a new fireball DM.
- Chin has two new DMs. qcfx2+K is the 'walking forward' victory pose now as a DM. But there's only two hits. There's also an after-taunt for this move. hcbx2+P is the other new DM, animation is his P throw (chug wine into opponent's face) and dizzies opponent.
- EX Billy now has a new DM, qcfx2+K.
- Kasumi is basically her 96 self. New moves, qcb+P->hcf+K->d+C. Moving double palm attack, then throw opponent back, then OTG hit. It can't connect though. dp+P, if I read correctly, is like an anti-air version of her qcf+P. dp+K is some sort of short ranged ki-blast.
- Krauser has new moves. hcf+P, RB2's counter move. Lift Up Blow (forgot motion) is RB2's throw move. hcbx3+P is a grab move, but doesn't seem to do much damage. qcf,hcb+P is a ranbu DM. Different endings for DM and SDM versions.
- Kyo, dp+A has worse autoguard...dB, dA into qcfx2+P is harder to link?
- EX King has a new grab move, changed a fireball, DM is Double Strike, and Suprise Rose DM from 2k1 is back here.


Moar specific stuff:
Orochi:
- hcf+P: Super fireball
- dp+K: Orochi's Genocide Cutter lookalike
- qcf+B: Nothing (probably a counter?)
- hcb+A/B/C/D: Lightning pillar
- qcf+D: Nothing either (probably a fireball reflector?)
- qcfx2+P: Airborne characters don't get all the hits
- qcfx2+K: Sucks in opponent move
This guy also seems to recall there's also a move where he does some...rainbow beam or something.

For Mary I'll update later or anyone else who can translate would be nice.

Im so sick of waiting for this game to come out!

I dont believe a word about Ex Mary being the weakest in the game...considering that mary in regulation a has the ppower power up then grab off ground infinity.

Ex Mary can grab off the ground super in 98umatch as well....thats gonna be broken I can see it now. :D

The original text was that the user considered Mary in RB2 to be the weakest in the game. He just hopes that the EX Mary in this version isn't as weak.
