That would be possible, i remember someone saying Buriki and Kizuna chars before Gai was revealed, but really Hayate is more NGBC material.

I wonder how those 2 will be sorted out with the story... there are tons of possible scenarios for Gai but Hayate?... hmm..

And is it me, or is Gai's sprite (mostly his stance) over muscled?...

Funny, i was reading an Hiroaki's interview and he mentioned he wanted Gai and someone from Kizuna in Kof...
