Hey all,

Before 13, the only KoF that I ever played was 2002 on the Dreamcast, and my team was Iori, Vanessa, and Blue Mary.
This game has a crappier Iori (I know about the DLC one) and neither of the other two characters. Of the new cast, I really enjoy playing as Ash. Currently, my team is Ash / Saiki / Terry. I don't REALLY like the way Terry handles though, as he fees sorta... clunky?

That being said, since I'm new to KoF as a general whole, who are some good character to start with? The execution limitations aren't a problem, as much as the whole "understanding the way the game works" being a problem.

What characters are best suited against players that just play runaway all day, especially with Andy, Robert, Joe. I don't have that much trouble but my execution is still way iffy and I can punish as much as i could. I'm even open to make a whole team dedicated to fight these misplaced Street Fighter 2: the World Warrior players.

Haha, I find myself in this situation a lot at the moment. Billy's on point for me and usually seems to lose the round either from me dropping links, not making the read for the right anti air or just not punishing as well as I could. IF they do sit back and turtle with fireball characters I seem to have to rely on using a jump LK to break their guard, and if I do that as an instant overhead I'll eat a or Kim or Ash's up-kicks even on hit, . And yeah, the Garou and Ryukou teams seem to have been reduced to being substitute SF4 characters for a lot of people online. It's a shame, especially for Andy who seems capable of so much more.

It's pissing me off how there's no way to decline a match in ranked though once it's paired two players. They should just do what Tekken 6 did and hide the rank of your opponent but show you the ping estimate. I can almost forgive netcode issues but basic interface and flow options like that being left out annoy me! It's sad because noone seems to be playing Player Matches either, I've sat there in Practice for 10 minutes without a game, I'll pop onto ranked and almost immediately be matched with some 1-bar blad.

Nooo my R.E.D Kick

Today i had a lot of 2-3 ranked matches, I was surprised and thought the game had been patched or something, but yeah no. Still quite playable. I think I got the hang of the game in term of pace and spacing, but execution is still lol-worthy. I have Kyo95 in my team but I don't like him much, DLC characters where are you ;_;

I'm sorry Gun I think I'll switch to K'

I'm getting 3 bars with my friend who lives 10 blocks from me. It's quite playable but I can't roll recover online, at all......

Either way, the netcode seems kinda crappy compared to SFIV or Blazblu.

Claw Iori maybe be different, but he certainly ain't bad.

First, did you check the in-game tutorial available? Granted, it's not as in-depth as say, Dandy J's Guide to KoF, but it gets you the basics down first - and eventually you could watch that to help in the more advanced tactics.



As for characters to start with to get a good grip on the game? Personal opinion, but I say try Shen, Andy and/or Kyo.
