Either
A C
B D
(which is the default)

or

B C D
A

There are a few variations but those are the ones offered by the arcade version. I personally use the second one.

i'm a pad user, and uh, i'm mostly used to the old setup that i had in sega saturn versions, which was something like
CD
AB

i think that actually started from my snes days on fatal fury, though. as you can see, canceling into hd mode sucks, so there's a macro for it, of course.

if you want no hassles when playing with other people at sessions or tournaments, I highly recommend sticking with default.

i don't have any kind of scene that justifies that, so i'm ok. a few people around know about kof, but aren't really players of the series.

I don't get it... more than combo exhibitions they are the Trial for the characters, showing few of each one O.o?

Been only playing with friends, but now I REALLY want to level up my game.
Do u guys think its worth changing?
What would be the benefits of changing it?

Just use whatever works best for you. If you can manage to do your moves fine with whatever setup you have then use it. Their is no best way, it's just your way of making moving around the pad/stick more comfortable.

To be honest unless you are playing Angel (which you are definitely not), it's pretty much inexcusable to be unable to adapt to different button configurations in 10 minutes of playing or so. I learned that the hard way

I couldnt do that. I can adapt to an additional button (XI) but not to a different layout.

We have been carefully monitoring dialogue and feedback regarding the online play in THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII. While the general consensus is that KOF XIII is one of if not the best entry in the series and that the netcode is noticeably improved over the previous iteration, we're saddened to hear that many of our fans are frustrated with their online experiences thus far.

Just as it was in the months prior to the game's release, we will do everything within our influence to help developer SNK PLAYMORE test and continue to improve KOF XIII's network performance. To this end, the detailed feedback we've received is invaluable.

We greatly appreciate the dedication of players who are diligently reporting their online experiences, and we sincerely thank the community for all of the passion and support it has offered us and THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII.

I wouldn't bother. I used to play with the proper A B C D layout, but I've since moved to Hong Kong, where everywhere you turn there's an arcade with KOF inside. ALL Hong Kong players use the same layout you do, and they do just fine. In fact, my friends had no idea this button configuration is "Hong Kong style". They thought it was normal.

Great to see that they are listening... Hopefully they can get word to the developer and try to get some improvements in a patch or something.

So far my online experience hasn't been that bad... i stick to lvl 3 and 4 matchs and apart from the odd lvl 3 matchs that are a bit iffy i haven't had much trouble due to lag, wish o could say the same about my skill and my execution but alas... practice practice :)

Cheers, this way def seems the most natural to me, but playing more than one fighter atm sometimes has me confused, maybe after investing more time in 13 ill be fine. I think of switching it so its more similar to SF, but then it will be further from my Blaz & MvC setup, which is pretty much identical to my KOF setup.

Cheers, hahaha, what a nice surprise to see other Aussies in here!
Why have we not played KOF together? U main GGPO?
If your getting 13 on X360 hit me up for some matches!!!

Ahhh cheers! Back in the 90s the Arcade we always used to go to(the best for KOF in our area) had the setup like this, and cos we wanted to play against the really good players that played at this arcade we all made our buttons like that ever since.

my ps3 died so I switched to xbl

found a few friends on 3 bars and had a couple of matches- it was ok! quite playable! Not great, dropped a BC combo I would normally never, and I still think you are playing blind to a point, relying on autopilot rather than hit confirm, but it's fun hohoho

If all the 3 bars on xbl, then that's where I'll stay.
