Hey, not sure how many people actually know about The Escapist Magizine, it started as a e-mail only based magizine that has grown considerably over the years. Anyway, amongst all the things they like to keep up on like other electronic reporting site, they have a reviewer who presents his work in clever animated video format.
He has a rather blunt presentation following the gimick suggested in his review headline title (Zero Punctuation, as in he don't really breath much between sentences) mixed with a synical silver lineing but it ends up rather entertaining mixed with his opinions of the games generally coverd.
Not that hearing Austriallian condecending attitudes cover any given subject and pulling from local pollitical topics and almost stereotypical status-quo opinions is anything new for me to hear (read: he likes to poke fun at Americans) but what has brought to the table so far hasn't been anything I could ever find myself disagreeing with. His reviews aren't too short that you'll feel he's been lasy about covering the games he plays but still quick enough that you wouldn't feel guilty if you tried to sneak on to a computer at work and hear his latest rant.
Heres are the links to what he has done for the Escapist Mag so far. His personal website has many other reviews that were done before getting the gig with Escapist.
Heavenly Sword Demo+
Psychonaughts
Console Rundown
Bio Shock
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Manhunt
Peggle

AVGN doesn't really review anything, though comparison did come to mind when I first saw Zero Punctuation. The bottom line is that AVGN videos are a gripe and not a form of evaluation.denieru wrote:those videos are now even featured on G4... kinda entertaining, but reminds me of the Angry VG NErd... and how quickly the copycats came and turned into crap...
At least with Zero Punctuation Croshaw's standards are usually pretty clear. Story and gameplay are equal, and he can't be arsed about multiplayer because other people are retards.
