PotC2: DMC Review

No, not Passion of the Christ 2: Devil May Cry.

1. It didn't seem as epic as the first, it was quite underwhelming throughout the whole movie actually, but it was still enjoyable.

2. Really, nothing is answered in this movie. Everything seems to build up to the 3rd movie. I'm not sure how they're gonna fit Davey Jones, Beckett and the trade company stuff, Chow Yun Fat's new villain character and spoilers bringing Jack Sparrow back to life, resolving the love triangle between Elizabeth, Will and Jack, and also resolving the return of Barbossa. How convoluted. I hope this trilogy doesn't turn into another Matrix.

3. This movie is LOOOOOONG and drags on a bit. There's a little scene after the credits, but it's really irrelevant to the story and not worth it. The credits are also so bloody long. The scene after the movie shows spoilers the dog being worshipped by the tribal people with all sorts of accessories on him and a big bone in his mouth.

5. Overall I give it 7/10. Nowhere near as good as the first but still worth the price of admission.

Well, in a sum of its parts it's a good movie. The story is rather off and on, some parts didn't work and others did. The characters seemed to be settling more into caricatures of themselves. That love triangle thing was painfully forced, and no buildup whatsoever.

The action was absolutely spot-on though; not a penny wasted there. Jack-on-a-stick and the waterwheel sequence were my favorites. And the comedy, though a bit sparse and cheesy at times, was worth a laugh or two.
