Last time I checked, Soul Calibur didn't have any characters with seven swords, or aztec warriors, or ninja pets, or kabuki dancers. So by default Samurai Shodown brings something new to the 3D weapon fighter genre.Branger wrote:Exactly. The world doesn't need another 3D Weapon-based fighter unless it brings something new to the genre. Sam Shodown's been done before, so why do it? Then again, this is the video game industry we're talking about.ShadowSonic wrote:Um, he meant that he doesn't see a need for another 3D weapon-based fighting game when Soul Calibur already exists.

Aztec Warrior? It had a Native American. Ninja Pets? Well, you got me there. Kabuki Dancers...what about that geisha girl from SCIII?Gojira wrote:Last time I checked, Soul Calibur didn't have any characters with seven swords, or aztec warriors, or ninja pets, or kabuki dancers. Sorry--I just don't see a need for another SamShodown. Then again, I'm biased because I don't like the game.

Don't forget the maid ninja too =DGojira wrote:Aztec, Incan, Shaman, whatever. Soul Calibur has none of these. Rock is about as Native American as Hulk Hogan.
Congratulations, you just proved you know nothing about kabuki.Branger wrote:Kabuki Dancers...what about that geisha girl from SCIII?
SC don't have one.

Major SNKP news from TGS from Iggy @ MMCafe
Regarding KOFXII:
- Ash and Elisabeth are in the game
- The game will be the last in the Tales of Ash saga
- They've dumped every single graphical artifact from the older KOFs and are starting from scratch - EDIT - actually Iggy didn't mention this, but the front page of CX quotes Nona as saying it.
- The game will have more characters like the Kizuna and Buriki hiddens
- The game will also have more returning characters than new ones
Regarding KOFMIA:
- Ash replaces Armor Ralf. Good, because he was ultimately pointless anyway.

Oh,
, that's awesome KoFXII news. Even more excited now, particularly at the idea of more returning characters. As for the MI:A news, I'm not suprised Ash is replacing Armor Ralf, as not only is he rather pointless, he's also stupidly broken (though I guess that's the point). I wonder if they'll spwitch out, like, Hyena or any of the other hiddens for anyone, I know I'd love to see some other characters in it.

I'm just saying I don't really like the Shodown series, and therefore don't think there should be one. It's like everytime I see Mitsurugi in SC, I say "Hey, look at Haohmaru." I'm biased against SS. Go figure.
I want to see shots of KOF98 Ultimate!

Gamespot agrees

Seriously if this is true I hope SNK takes it upon themselves to make the new version as aesthetic as possible. I'd hate to have them go to the trouble of revamping the whole thing just to bring the graphics up to the standards of, say, 1996....
Still, new KoF graphics.... I never thought I'd see the day
