We Never Talk Anymore

Post by Bugle/Hawk'M » Tue Jun 22, 2010 06:27

Can't we chat about video games or gundam or television or something? I feel we are no longer intimate, or maybe too intimate, because all we talk about is our personal problems. Can't we just agree to give up on women and have a good old fashioned orgy? Or maybe a lively discussion of philosophy or murder.

So my new iPhone is coming to me from Hong Kong via Anchorage for some reason. What's up with that?

EDIT: And apparently it bypassed Seattle completely and ended up in Oakland. WTF?

FMA is almost finished so I will have no anime to watch after that ... I spoiled it for myself by reading the manga but nonetheless it's been a fun few years with my FMA-fandom

I don't know what to do once I am made redundant at the end of the year hopefully I might be able to find a job and stay in China and just learn about the culture

My mother is trying to settle her divorce with my father but he refuses to speak to her so she tells me what to ask him they're acting like children grrrr

Some Gundam Talk...

Personally, I prefer a Kamen Rider Decade-type Gundam Series. Where a Gundam from another world battles all Gundams from the other Alternate Universes (G, Wing, X, SEED and 00) to fulfill about the connection of the protagonist's past, the ongoing war in his/her own universe and the "Black History" that runs within the Gundam Universe, UC is not included due to some circumstances, not sure about Turn A though since it happens in the "Distant Future" and is all universes merged into one. Somewhat, the "Black History" in Turn A Gundam might play a role in this series.

It may or may not serve as a prequel to Turn A.

For the Protagonist, I want a badass, down-to-earth protagonist, and not a whiny Marty Stu named Kira Yamato. Though I wanted a female protagonist (I doubt it since they denied the Creator of Gundam of making one in Turn A, as a result we get a crossdesser instead) and a "Shout Out" to Kallen Stadtfeld of Code Geass (since she sometimes act as a mini-homage to G's Domon Kasshu) with a personality of Tsukasa Kaodya from Decade, if the protagonist is female or has a personality of Tsukasa Kadoya from Decade with a twist of Judau Ashta (ZZ) or Uso Evin (Victory) thrown in, if the protagonist is male.

As for the Gundam, I prefer the Color Schemes of the Unicorn Gundam (Predominantly white. gold and red) for the main Gundam. Also, it has the specs similar to the Gundams (e.g. Nuclear Core from the Strike Freedom, a Mobile Fighter-esque cockpit ala God Gundam, (and the Moonlight Butterfly, if Turn A gets included) and some signature arsenals of the God Gundam, Zero Wing Custom, Double X, Strike Freedom, Destiny Gundam and 00 Gundam.

Which should be the Order of universes to battle?
Mine: G -> 00 -> Wing -> SEED -> X -> (Turn A)
On personal thought, I prefer Kira and Lacus to be "written off". Lacus to be killed and Kira suffer the same fate as Kamille Bidan at the very end of Zeta. And have Shinn Asuka (whom Kira stole the spotlight from in Destiny) and Kira's replacement (Someone that looked and sounds like Kira, except not an emo Marty Stu, but an intelligent Rachel Alucard-like Observer who has an access to the "Black History", think of him as the Yusuke Onodera of SEED, except he acts more like a serious opposite of Kira) take the spotlight in the SEED Arc.

To hell with their fanboys/fangirls...

As for the other worlds (G, Wing, X and 00), let the writers decide.
What do you think...

I'm really happy I removed those ads. I might even click the new ones, as they actually seem to be about KOF!

I suppose that they're sending it out from China/Hong Kong thru FedEx? To west coast the flight should be Hong Kong -> Anchorage -> Oakland -> someplace.

I don't know. I think I would like to watch a less conventional gundam series. Which is to say a show where there are no gundams or prototypes. I'd like to see a show that actually takes the view of frontline military soldiers and not that of civilians thrown into battle and saving the day. It would be a character driven show about soldiers dealing with a war they have no control over in a world that happens to have mechs. Something of a Generation Kill with robots, which is an idea that might appeal to someone like me but is probably appalling to Generation Kill fans or real soldiers.

I'm going through Borderlands withdrawal. Nothing I've played since has managed to really capture my attention in any significant way - GoW3 was blahhh, UC2 was boring, Modnation Racers is annoying etc etc. I find myself pointlessly fighting Crawmerax over and over just to raise the weapon proficiencies for gun types I don't even use (not that I need the bonuses anyway as everything is oh so killable at this point). I'm not sure if BL has ruined me for other games or I just haven't found anything else worth obsessing over.

Curse you Gearbox!!!

After seeing the final chapters of the FMA Manga... I have seen enough to make me smile.

Suddenly, a "Turtles Forever"-esque crossover involving the first FMA Anime and FMA: Brotherhood came into my mind. But it borders more of Action-Comedy than what the Brotherhood/manga and the first anime is. Let's just say... a Gag Crossover... (I know, it's only a sort of fan fic...)

Who should be the main Villain and how the Story goes...

Choice of Villains: Father, Dante or "Mother" (fused Dante and Father).

Story: "The Big Bad seized the each other's worlds and fused them in some way..." (Expansion needed)

Also some Super Mario Reference on Winry (hint: Bandannas), Manga Elrics freaking out on Anime Rose and Anime Wrath, Manga Mustang on Anime Lust, Anime Lust on Manga Scar, everyone getting confused on the two King Bradleys (Anime Pride and Manga Wrath) and Manga Izumi doing "something" towards Anime Wrath, the Anime Elrics freaking out when they saw Manga Sloth (Anime and Manga Sloth are way different), Ling and May Chang asking where are their first FMA counterparts are or Ling (or Greedling, depending on the story) beating up Anime Wrath for some reason, (Van Hohenheim) Elric and a lot more.

Example:
Manga Sloth appears
Anime Armstrong: What kind of freak is that?
Manga Ed: That's Sloth.
Anime Ed: Sloth? But I thought...

All I can say, Anime Wrath in this crossover fic is treated like Scrappy Doo by the Manga counterparts of the characters (Especially Ling, Manga Envy and Manga Pride). Even Father goes WTF when he saw Anime Wrath.

Father: Did I see this homonclonus before?
The climax is a battle between the four Elrics and "Mother" (in full frontal form)
A lot of Fourth Wall breaking going on.

and Hiromu Arakawa cameo...

bugle: If you're looking for a gundam series about soldiers fighting on the frontline without crazy prototypes, check out Mobile Suit Gundam: 08th MS team. I should warn you that there IS one prototype in the series, but it's used by the antagonists of the story, and it's more a plot device than anything else. It's also very character-driven. I can't say it'll wow you, but it is one of the more universally acclaimed shows in the Gundam-verse.

Further on the gundam front: To tell the truth, I personally dislike SEED a lot. I think it epitomizes the ultra-commercial giant robot genre, rather than the (semi) realistic angle that the earlier Gundam shows strove for. Even just looking at the ridiculous designs for all the mecha and the ludicrous number of mobile suits they call 'Gundams' in that show and its godawful sequel makes me cringe. Why does every friggin' above-average giant goddamned robot in that series have to be a gundam? What happened to all the crazy names for the exotic suits, like Qubeley or Sazabi?

I also really liked Turn A, though as you already said I think they should've just let the director/creator have a female protagonist. What's up with the rampant sexism anyway? It's really sad that the idea of a down-to-earth, badass female hero is considered mind-blowingly novel. Or even a down-to-earth badass, like Amuro Ray got to be after the first half of the original show. Why has every new protagonist got to be an olympic-level whiner/pacifistic pussy? Ugh! argh

But alas, I am cutting of my word-vomit now.

I think the bigger issue is whether your phone will work properly over here. I brought over a triband phone from Singapore when I moved to the US and it would lose signal in the weirdest places. When I switched to a locally-bought phone the difference was immediate and obvious.

That said both AT&T and T-Mobile (the only GSM providers in the US, afaik) both sell pre-paid cards.
