As far as I can tell, no. The first one was a 2-episode OVA but the characters and story are unrelated with Canvas 2. The only similarity between the two series is that the main male lead is an artist or is involved with art. Much like how the stories in To Heart and To Heart 2 are unrelated with each other, except taking place in the same school.

[strike]Another 'harem' series that's apparently good is Magikano. Only 13 episodes long with supposedly lots of fanservice, wacky situations, and good comedy. Good if you want to ease off on the drama.[/strike] Didn't realise Gojira watched it already.
Also has anybody watched Da Capo Second Season? Is it worth watching? That said, is the first DC worth watching too?
EDIT :: Reminder to self: download Kimi ga Nozomu Eien for angsty and drama-ish harem anime after watching Canvas 2.
EDIT 2 :: How do I use Strike Tags?

Sheba wrote:Anyway, it is funnier to watch him cry at Mikuru abuse.

'nyway, DaCapo is a simple incestuous romance story. It's about a guy (Junichi) that begins to feel attracted to his (adopted) sister (Nemu).
But also, other girls are hitting on him, and a relative of him (Sakura) returns from the U.S. to marry him or something.
First season has a much better story. It looks simple and the animation isn't that great (I personally didn't mind, because I <3 how it looks). The first chapters feature videoclips with the V.A. of the girls, the following chapters feature side-stories (where the girls meet a strange guy, I named him " Niggah Utamaru"

Second season looks way better and it has a better animation, but the story isn't as good as the first season's. Aishia is awesome, though.

I don't get what's going on in Higurashi anymore. :-(
At first I thought Rena and the girls were just lying to make up an excuse for him for not being present at the festival, but then it turns out that was not the case.
I like how the one detective just chucks K1 out of the hole like he was nothing. Wow, that's one mightily strong detective there. I wonder what he eats for breakfast? Onigiris with needles in them?

Spoiler-free review. Maybe.
*watches the ending of Canvas 2*
ZOMG
It's a "good ending", but I really do not like how it turned about. Could you say ZOMG plot twist? I really didn't like how it ended. It kept building up towards a certain ending and then turn it around just like that. I felt like my intelligence was being insulted after watching the end.
Main criticism: Hiroki as the main male lead is too boring. He's not a wimp but he was, for the most part, a blank slate devoid of any display of emotions or personality. While his character may be written that way due to his background, I still feel that he was a boring person to watch since most of the time, his reactions were almost non-descript.
Not to mention that the whole series was 12 episodes too long. The 'girl of the week' episodes were weak, especially since most if not all of them had only a passing interest in Hiroki as a teacher, not as a lover. If they had cut it down to a normal 13 episode series to focus on the main characters triangle relationship, the series wouldn't feel like it was dragging its feet, which I felt was moving that way after watching 6-7 episodes. I was actually wishing for a boxcutter to appear in the middle of the episode so someone could slash their wrist for TEH DRAMA effect.
Maybe I feel kinda spoiled after watching Shuffle!, but I really didn't like how Canvas 2 ended. And it's not because my favourite character didn't end up with Hiroki. Rather, it's how they kept building up towards a particular ending, only to turn it around in a somewhat illogical way. Dammit, if you're trying to make an ending towards a particular girl, at least show some early hints of it in the last few episodes instead of ambushing us with this crap episode.
And what's with that ending scene of that girl "dying" in the plane? It looked like she tried to commit suicide. WTF??? That scene wasn't necessary at all.
In short, a "harem" anime that went on 12 episodes too long, not to mention an uninteresting male lead and a shitty ending. What a waste of my time.
