Our arcade here in Austin uses

B C D
A .. E

Kind of like the regular MVS layout, but with the E button added on.

We use the default layout that every SNKP KoF-based game has had after the horror that was 2k3.

ACE
BD

Though I'd much rather prefer something along the lines of
. B C D E
A

Would fit the classic Neo Geo style layout I've come to consider as the only layout that should exist.

Heh, it's like that in Perth as well, what so weird about that?I have been playing it like that since '95 (WA and Singapore). Street fighter for us is:
LP MP HP 1 2 3
LK MK HK 4 5 6

and since kof XI uses 5 buttons, naturally they placed it:

1 2 3

4 5 I guess it feels better for E to be there then in the middle.

Ohh yeah, it was in Aust. I believe some asian countries use this lay-out as well
A C E
B D
But the weirdest one was when i was in Indo, in some cinema with arcade centre innit, NGBC controls were set like this
A B
C D , there was no E shift whatsoever. Gah they better have the E button for KOFXI when I come back to Indo in few months. I believe one of my friends saw KOFXI (complete with greasy sticky stick) in KL, M`sia the arcade center near Star Hill shopping center. I heard that Malaysian players standard is great since they derive their style of play from S'poreans whom style of play is derived from HK players, known for their overly aggressive gameplay. KOFXI is everywhere i mean everywhere in HK, even some small mom+pop arcade centre has it!! And that was when I celebrate chinese new year last month i bet HK is over-flown by KOFXI machine by now! Its such a same that KOFXI machine is pretty rare in the US. Big market but SNKP is still ignoring this huge market opp.

Some Asian countries use that.. Actually that's what I use when I play them at home with my Playstation Controllers (keyboard is too hard!) as well.

as for the Singaporeans being aggressive... we like to call it keeping the pressure up  SG players are more known for the way they "tap" the buttons (think multiple hits for Iori's Light kicks in '95, Jhun's Light kicks in '99, Yuri's Light kicks in '02) AND for the "poking" style they use (i.e spamming normal attacks to keep opponent at bay or try to get a free hit) .

I MISS SG! Oh well...

EDIT: Oh I forgot to ask, Franz, are you on some KOF-TOUR OF DUTY OR SOMETHING? LOL. You seem to be everywhere.. ENVY!

Controls over here are the same old SNK button layout, but with the E button added next to A.

stupid question i would like somebody to answer it:

Does the quick saving shift works on any hit if the opponent is comboing you?? or can u do it only during the opponent´s 1st hit?

additionally: can you save shift if opponent hits u while you are on air?
thanks in advance if somebody can answer me

1) You can saving shift from normal hits or "between" opponent move inputs. For instance, you can't saving shift when you're being hit by a ranbu attack, but you can saving shift during the ranbu super flash. Also, if you get hit by a multi-hit special move, you can only saving shift on the first hit.

2) You can't saving shift in mid-air.

Anyone having difficulty pressing f + AB to roll while they're running? I often end up doing my character's respective f + A or f + B if I try to hold forward while running to roll. I've lost many matches cos of this, so I'm just wondering if this is a system thing or my arcade's crappy buttons/sticks.

Yeah all the time, but I KNOW it's because of crappy buttons AND stick.

Ack, I meant to say while they're running. (Run forward, hold forward, then try to roll while holding f). I'm noticing if I shift my joystick to neutral and do the AB it's fine tho.

Bleh, just means I gotta break another bad execution habit.
