Voted earlier, but my vote goes to the K' team.
K' - good QS finisher, minute spike x n looniness, decent options at most ranges
Kula - nuff said
Maxima - Good QS starter/continuer, high damage
I suck, so there's probably stuff that I'm missing, but that's what I think. Take it with a spoon of salt.

After giving my vote, I rethought about it and was about to put K' and Ash team equal but then stuck to my vote.SonicWaver wrote:but...why ?
Ash is really lacking without his LDM, he lost almost all the stuff he was good for in 2k3. Crappy QSing, crappy stun potential, crappy damage. Put him as leader and he's a monster, but it's really hard to choose which LDM you would want, Ash or Oswald. Most ppl will probably go for Oswald for the simple input unlike Ash where if you mess up your combo, you can say goodbye to all that damage. Lots of great setups though. Compare K' to Ash, and K' pretty much wins in almost every way. Better damage, more scrub friendly (may not be as scrub friendly as 2k3, but K' gains a buttload of whacked stuff like craze Minute Spike and LDM juggling), etc.
Oswald compared to Kula isn't much contest, especially when Kula is way more scrub friendly than Oswald. Oswald has the damage but his stun potential is crap.
Shen would most probably beat Maxima, but Maxima helps his team way more better than Shen. Insane Qsing, insane damage, insane stun. Also most probably the best Maxima in Maxima history. Shen's pretty much nerfed from 2k3.
All pretty much the same reasons why SS voted for K' team.
I wish Ash was better, but then people would complain he's broken.

Originally I did not expect most people to vote K` team and thought that a normal reply would suffice. XD
My vote goes to K` team too. The strengths of Maxima and Kula are evident. K` has very explosive potential as well. SS and Persona elaborated more on their posts earlier.
The only weakness of this team is, the nexus of QSing is Maxima.
In terms of individual strength however, MOW team is the best imo. Not many default teams can take on the MOW team one on one. Their QSing abilty is terrible so they take a big plummet in overall ratings.
Rival team is perhaps the most balanced of the default teams. Every member has an above average LDM and they link to each other easily.
Garou team is pretty good too as they link to each other pretty well too. They function to great effect individually as well. It is just that they miss out on having at least one S tier on their team to really kill. XD

Ash as a battery? I assume that you mean putting Ash first?
Ash is terrible as a first character. Incidentally I may start another poll on which characters are best as a starting character.
Ash is terrible because, he needs stocks to be effective. Ash's combos do little damage and as a 1st character, you are going to get instances where your opponent will either go Dp or offensive crazy.
Even if they screw up, so what? How much damage can Ash give them anyway? Conversely if Ash screws up, uh oh... XD

I always use him first at least 70% of the time and are always sucessful. I mean most of the time my fellow Ash opponent can't even land a command throw, nor even try. And I may only use 1 stock for him and donate the rest to usually Adel who def. needs barEmpyrian wrote:Ash as a battery? I assume that you mean putting Ash first?

hey!Slapper Joe wrote:Excluding the Agents and the P.Soldiers (who are so bleh they can't even make it onto the list) the teams are all reasonably well stacked. Team Leather&Latex, the Old New Hero Team and Teams Garou 1&2 (who have been surprisingly absent from this conversation) are all pretty well matched.
Neo Psycho´s team is good (the fact is that i just cant play a good momoko against all these "tier" players...)
Kensou is a very powerful incarnation this year.
Athena + command grab + LDM = sweet
but Momo....well, a good momo user may trash serious butt, but not me....im not a "spontaneous" fighter...i always use some kind of system...and momo is kind of a "spontaneous" char
Thats why i didnt voted em...but initially, i used them a lot
