      You are expressing an action in the future. There is no planning.<\/p>\n

      2.<\/strong> If you want to show a plan, use present continuous (be +ing)<\/strong><\/p>\n

      I’m playing<\/strong> in that tournament on Saturday<\/em>.<\/p>\n

      Remember the context must have a time in the future<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/em>otherwise people might think you are talking about the present.<\/p>\n

      If you want to express an action in the future or a decision made now use future simple.<\/p>\n

      3.<\/strong> If you want to express an decision made in the past, use going to + do<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Think about a villain or hero in a movie:<\/p>\n

      I’ll kill you<\/strong>
      \nIs a fast, no thinking, emotional reaction, decision is made now
      \nI’m going to kill you<\/strong>
      \nShows building anger and thinking before deciding; it could be a just a threat in the end.
      \nGoing to do<\/em> is a less formal way of saying\u00a0I have decided to
      \n<\/em>I have decided to kill you<\/strong>
      \nSounds very methodical, formal and emotionless
      \nI was going to kill you<\/strong>
      \nMeans the decision was changed!<\/p>\n

      Note: I’m gonna = I’m going to<\/p>\n

      It’s just a different dialect.<\/p>\n
