Very often we are not, so, instead, we give opinions.<\/p>\n<p>For example, if somebody asks about an overpowered character in the first release of a game, what would you say?<\/p>\n<p>They will get nerfed.<\/p>\n<p>Are you sure?<\/p>\n<p>Often we express an <strong>opinion\u00a0<\/strong>or <strong>prediction<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0about the future.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I think they will\u2026<br \/>\nI guess they will<br \/>\nThey will probably&#8230;<br \/>\nI believe they will&#8230;<br \/>\nThey are sure to &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 get nerfed in the patch.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h1>Opinions<\/h1>\n<p>Do you <strong>think<\/strong> she&#8217;ll win the match?<br \/>\nYeah, she&#8217;ll win.<\/p>\n<p>This is not an expression of the future, this is an <strong>opinion<\/strong>. The question sets the context. <strong>The answer does not need to repeat<\/strong> \u201cI think she will\u201d. Of course, if you want to express a certainty of the future, then do so.<\/p>\n<p>pronoun + think + subject + will + verb<\/p>\n<p><strong>I think it will rain<\/strong> tonight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>She thinks there will be<\/strong> traffic<\/p>\n<h1>Stronger Opinion<\/h1>\n<p>Use &#8220;believe&#8221; instead of think.<\/p>\n<p>I <strong>believe <\/strong>it will rain tonight<\/p>\n<h1>Emphasis<\/h1>\n<p>Additional words before or after the phrase add strength.<\/p>\n<p>For example: <em>She&#8217;ll win<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>After<\/strong><br \/>\nShe&#8217;ll win +\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; for sure<br \/>\n&#8211; it&#8217;s\/that&#8217;s guaranteed<br \/>\n&#8211; , of course<\/p>\n<p>&gt; She&#8217;ll win for sure!<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Before<\/strong><br \/>\n+ she&#8217;ll win<\/em><br \/>\n&#8211; Too right<br \/>\n&#8211; Damn right<br \/>\n&#8211; Of course<br \/>\n&#8211; No doubt<\/p>\n<p>&gt; No doubt, she&#8217;ll win!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Short replies<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Certainly!<br \/>\n&#8211; No doubt!<br \/>\n&#8211; Undoubtedly!<br \/>\n&#8211; Obviously!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>no need to add the phrase here.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h1>Predictions<\/h1>\n<p>We use &#8220;<strong>going to<\/strong>&#8221; to predict the future, based on what we know or can see.<\/p>\n<p><strong>subject + to be + going + to infinitive<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It&#8217;s going to rain\u00a0<\/strong>= looking at the dark clouds in the sky, I am quite confident that it will rain<\/p>\n<p><strong>The pen is on the edge of the table &#8211; it is going to fall off!<br \/>\n<\/strong>It is not 100% sure but it very probably will happen.<\/p>\n<p>He has drunk too much.\u00a0 He looks very pale.<br \/>\nI think he will be sick (opinion).<br \/>\n<strong>he&#8217;s going to be<\/strong> <strong>sick<\/strong> (prediction)!<\/p>\n<p>In this case, effectively they are the same &#8211; get a bucket!<\/p>\n<p>Look at the time, <strong>we&#8217;re going to be<\/strong> late!<\/p>\n<p>Note: People will often use a prediction instead of the future tense, even when the future is certain, because it shows hope.<\/p>\n<p>It will take twenty minutes to arrive at the boarding gate and there are five minutes late! We&#8217;re going to miss the plane!<\/p>\n<p>The piano is falling!
