    Decisions I<\/h1>\n

    There are three ways to express decisions:\u00a0 I will<\/strong>, I am going to <\/strong>& I was going to.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Of course you can also say, I decided to<\/em> or I have decided to,\u00a0<\/em>but using will<\/strong> and going to<\/strong> is more usual.<\/p>\n

    Decision now = I will<\/h1>\n

    Use future simple to express an action in the future.
    \nThe future simple<\/strong>\u00a0is also used to express a decision that is made now<\/strong>, often as a reaction.<\/p>\n

    subject + will + infinitive without to<\/strong><\/p>\n

    You see an old person with a heavy suitcase near the stairs.\u00a0 You say:
    \nO: I’ll<\/strong> help<\/strong> you
    \nX: I help you
    \nX: I am helping you<\/p>\n

    Reminder: I will (formal) = I’ll (casual)<\/em><\/p>\n

    When you decide to do something, even if the action starts as you say it, we still use the future simple.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

    – I woke up late, please tell the tournament organiser!
    \nX: OK, I do that!
    \nO: OK, I’ll do<\/strong> that!<\/p>\n

    – Well, it’s late, I have to go.
    \nX: I call a taxi.
    \nO:\u00a0I’ll call<\/strong> a taxi.<\/p>\n

    -You’ve forgotten to register.
    \n-Ah, I’ll do<\/strong> that now.<\/span><\/p>\n

    As a reaction, use future simple to express a decision made now.<\/p>\n

    No, I won’t give you my ice cream!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    Decision before = I’m going to<\/h1>\n

    I’m going to<\/strong> watch<\/strong> the next episode right now!<\/p>\n

    This is different to the future simple.\u00a0 This expresses a decision that was made in the past.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    subject + (to be) + going + (to infinitive)<\/strong><\/p>\n

    I am going to<\/strong> watch<\/strong> the next episode = I have decided to<\/span> watch the next episode. I am expressing the decision was made before speaking.<\/p>\n

    “I have decided to” is the same as<\/em> I am going to<\/strong>, but it is more formal.<\/em><\/p>\n

    I will watch the next episode = I decided now \/ as I speak, or just before.<\/p>\n

    I\u2019m going to go<\/strong> to the cinema
    \nI’m going to kill<\/strong> you!<\/p>\n

    Notice the difference!<\/p>\n
