Have a question about KOF?  Ask it here.

If we don’t know the answer, we know people who do.

Orochinagi also has archives full of KOF related media.  However, with the multiple moves from server to server, there isn’t time to put every file back online, especially if nobody actually wants it.

Do you?

Simply leave a comment requesting what you need here, and we’ll have a dig around the archives and see what we can do.

  7. Gunsmith says:

PS2 : To get Zero you have to defeat 150 characters in Party mode. Set the difficulty to 1!

Neogeo – you have to hack it!

  8. Uchechukwu Chiemezie Daniel says:

Damn i thought i could dl kof here… ON DEMAND.

  16. Gunsmith says:

I’ve uploaded the rest of Zillion that I have but it’s very difficult to find English versions of these comics. Most have been translated to French, and some to English but not many.

    http://kofproject.free.fr/

You can dl kof from here too, and maybe even some wit.

  17. Uchechukwu Chiemezie Daniel says:

Orochinagi.com must have the largest gallery ever. KOF fans would love to see it. How do you manage to obtain so many images?

  18. Gunsmith says:

Hard work! Remember, we’ve been around since 1997… there’s probably more on some old hard drives! :)

  19. Uchechukwu Chiemezie Daniel says:

In retrospect, that “gallery” of yours should be an actual museum.

  20. Gunsmith says:

Well, some of it is so old, so that may well be true! Added some more albums, the gallery is now sorted so newest albums appear on the front page. Added some manga to the manga folder too (use the search box!). Enjoy!

  21. Uchechukwu Chiemezie Daniel says:

I speak on behalf on everyone, when I say “We already do.” Will we see some videos?

  22. Gunsmith says:

Videos? What is NOT on youtube? Don’t ask for any illegal videos e.g. the anime!

  23. Uchechukwu Chiemezie Daniel says:

Does this site has a YouTube channel? If so, is it possible to like it to here.

  24. Gunsmith says:

Ok, I’ve added our channel to the links.

  25. Kee says:

I would like to see more content on KOF/SNK related collectibles… the artbooks, promotional goods and such from events and the neo geo land souvenier shop

Such as the NEO GEO DJ station series, anyone have a translated script or something?

SNK wiki does a good job of outlining what goes on, but a full script would be so sweet

  26. Gunsmith says:

Hmmm can do the merchandise, there’s a few artbooks in the gallery already.
The translated scripts are much harder – there were a few projects to translate them but I don’t remember them ever being completed. I’ll try and have a look around.

  27. Gunsmith says:

    merchandise gallery added!

  28. Kee says:

Thanks so much, you guys rock keep up the great work!

Impressed by the effort and collections here

  29. Kee says:

Man just looking thru the merchandise gallery makes me a little bit sad lol… that iori voice clock is pretty sweet.

If only I was in Japan… I would kill to go to one of the KOF year end parties haha, SNK’s fan related merchandise is way too obscure and hard to find

  30. Gunsmith says:

Hey, I’ve updated the merchandise gallery a bit more, and the cosplay album. There’s a few more pics I need to take too! It was easy to get kof stuff a few years ago but not so much now….

  31. WryGuy says:

Oh, hey. I never realized this website was still kicking. Since you have a requests section, I’ll go ahead and shoot. I’m writing a series called The King of Fighters Love Letter, which is a combination piece detailing tidbits about what it’s like to be a fan of SNK games while at the same time covering the full backstory of the King of Fighters series in a single spot.

If you’re interested the latest article covers the full backstory of KOF 97 to the greatest of my capacity. Research involves playing the games, reading basil of gamefaq’s story-blurbs on classic SNK games, researching the official KOF website, checking out any story related media I can like the King of Fighters: Kyo manga, ect ect.

My request is if anyone has access to more official info on the games released by SNK itself, and if I can be given it. Whether it’s translations of drama CDs, scans of game manuals which might include older official profiles, or a proper written backstory on some of the characters with cited sources. Anything that’s actually backed up in some way would be useful.

For example, Blue Mary was a really tough one to figure out. Some people say her name is Blue Mary because she’s a cop, but at the same time she’s never done anything other than freelance work in the games. It’s pretty much undisputed that her jacket is from her dead lover, but nobody can agree on the specifics of what her lover actually did. Last, the story about the cocktail drink named the Blue Mary was something I was skeptical to put in, but it seemed to make sense. I’ve never found any really solid and official information on Blue Mary.

I want as much official information as I can use so I don’t have to resort to the terrors of some random person’s wiki who puts in information without a cited source. Any places I can be pointed to such things would be useful. Proper information about the backstory to Mark of the Wolves in particular will be very useful to me later on in writing the series, but information from earlier on like the old Fatal Furys and Art of Fightings would be helpful too. Fatal Fury and KOF seem to exist in separate timelines, so understanding both ends of that particular plot would be kind of important to properly explain what’s going on once I hit later games.

Really, any solid and good information about SNK’s history is good too. The Band of Fighters display at Neo Geo World has me wondering what other weird things might have existed there. Too bad the place existed before the internet could be a proper dumping grounds for videos and photos. Info on the place is scarce.

    Thanks for reading.

  32. Gunsmith says:

oooh boy. You read Landis’s faq at gamefaqs? It’s a good attempt to pull the story together, but imo, that’s something that can’t be done. With most fighting games, only one plot goes forward to the next in the series, and that means only one character can win the tournament (normally Kyo), which means anything that happens in any other ending is mostly impossible or merely didn’t happen.

You saw the Blue Mary’s blues images in the gallery? It took me years to get that! The real problem is that lots of sites that stored information have been lost because of the freesite bubble burst.

Citing sources is also pretty insane when you think about it, because essentially we all have to recognise that these are games. The designer maybe had only one victor in mind, but had to design stories for every character. It’s not just one writer, it’s teams of writers, look at the credits for each game – do you think one person will write the same as the one before? They do their job, they go home, and they make mistakes, or blur reality to make the newest games’ plot seem a bit more exciting. Well Capcom took the biscuit with this, SNK is not so bad. But the clones saga… uh… plot holes, and changed endings. Stuff happens.

When I was writing, I had to make decisions on what was canon. From SNK’s point of view, they don’t really care, they just want you to be entertained. Thus, the Kyo RPG and the Kyo Manga (up at the gallery). Is it canon? It’s official, but is it word of god? If you agree, then you’ll find a lot of games suddenly make no sense. What can you do? I personally stick to canon, anything official, even if it contradicts itself, quite simply I would argue god says this, and he’s allowed to change his mind. Look up the manga in the gallery, the booklets, anything with the SNK logo on it.

As for the history of SNK, there’s a video documentary around here (or was it on youtube?) somewhere, you’ll have to dig!

  33. WryGuy says:

As for only one person being able to win the tournament, it seems to me that all the endings in the KOF games actually do happen. In the older games for example Kyo always wins the tournament, but in all the official story blurbs all the characters recount their experiences as if they were there to witness Kyo win. So in that sense the actual boss fights may not occur, but every character still seems to be there and their endings do make sense when you toss that aside.

I used the Kyo manga to get a solid idea of the King of Fighters version of the Orochi Legend, that was about it. I just want official information so that things don’t get any more screwed up than they already are along the way. I’ll check into Lantis’ stuff on gamefaqs.

So far I think I’ve done a decent job if you wanna check it out. Click my screen name and you’ll see the 97 article.

  34. Gunsmith says:

notice you admit you have to toss something aside. It’s your story now!

Here’s part one of the SNK documentary

I’ll post a link to your site in the next update… good work there!

*chuckle* just finished Devil Summoner 2, and while it was great, I am NOT playing it again just to get Lucifer!

  35. WryGuy says:

Cool. Thanks. My page is really just a blog on Destructoid.com, but I’ll be sure to link all the entries in the series on the sidebar so that people that follow the link can see the entire series of articles.
