i dunno, dude, i have a different experience. i played against a level 2 connection and it played just like a pre-patched 4, with some hiccups here and there. but if i was better at combos, i'd have been able to do them--well, actually i did a few, but it was my fault if i dropped anything else, i get nervous for first-time playing online in a good connection. in saying that, 4 was near-perfect play for me.

I have no problem with 3 bars although half the time I fight 2 bars..... dont think I have ever fought on 4 bars yet in over 500 games online.

I'm under the impression that good connections are better than before, but bad ones are worse than before. Which is fine really, since you can now filter them. Instead of slow but smooth bad connection have now hiccups, which makes them rather unplayable. Again, fine, just saying.

Connections are better today. Prof said servers were probably messed up because of the patch.

I liked that patch
I got 4 bars connection instead of 3 bars with the same player i used to challenge
so far it was the best matches I played online on KOF13
still its hard to do combos with strict input specially the juggling ones

also I played a red bar connection which is not playable but waaaay better than 2 bars connections before the patch

I guess I will say bye bye to ranking now because no one in my area plays ranking matches and I will not be able to join any room

Tested the patch out last nite, gameplay was worse than before patch!
Tested with same player as pre-patch. Hopefully one of us were just having ISP problems, gonna test more, dunno what the point is tho, this same chap and myself played 98UM & 2k2UM quite religiously after they dropped on XBLA, so we saw quite a bit of patches, let me tell u, quite a few o those patches made things worse for online play!! I have no faith in SNKP for a proper patch, or to do the right thing and rebuild the netcode from the ground up!

Besides, looking at:

There doesnt seem to be an actual netcode latency fix in that changelog, just a bunch of other junk to try fool us all!


STILL BUGS?
I think theres a bug(maybe 2) with Leona. Pressing punch only once within the command for her air HSDM, yet a punch comes out just before the
HSDM, which would imply that impressing punch twice. The input display doesnt show that tho!

The 2nd being you can HD Cancel Moonslasher into Moonslasher with only 1 Moonslasher motion!!

Are these last 2 bugs or part of the core mechanics?

Did a set with PenPen last night, and with Iie-Kyo again just now (1 bar and 2 bars respectively). Overall I don't really know if I can say that the lag has gotten better - I CAN say that it's gotten a lot more inconsistent. We were getting occasional network hiccups (dropped frames) and the amount of input lag kept varying. We were sort of able to play but a lot of it was just doing combos from muscle memory or shotoing it up.

Pre-patch I was getting 3 bars and about 2-3 frames of input lag to Perfect Stranger (who lives like fifteen minutes away...lol)...need to see if he's up for another round of testing.

Yeah, from me to SS it still has input delay. It looks like they didn't implement any input delay compensation code (GGPO style). They did seem timplement some sort of code from KOF 12 where the game itself *slows down* to compensate for higher latency.

Both of us could sort of play, but it felt like we were kinda wailing around and hoping stuff hits. You can't for example react to a DM or a jump in attack if you're from a crouching position. Too much input delay to do that.

I'm going to test it out with bonta later on. He's 30 ms ping but we usually have zero input delay games in GGPO, Supercade, and even SF4. It felt like 2 ms delay in KOF 13, so we'll see if the patch helps decent connections.

But yeah, at this point, it still feels pretty unsatisfactory. There's still input delay, games between players that are 50 ping or higher won't be input delay free like on GGPO. :(

Just played a friend on XBL whom I had 4 bars against. Started out smooth, and then the frame dropping and slowdown ensued. Out of ten matches we played maybe two or three were plagued by constant lag spikes/slowdown (at least on my end), but when it was smooth it was quite playable.

Mind leaving your impressions Mature? On the connection, not on my uhh performance obviously. I'm OswaldK9o on PSN, from Italy.
btw AAA+ would get pummelled again.

Ggs indeed . we had quite a few matches these week and our connections were of Yellow bar but it felt playing in Green bar by a MILE. it did feel smoother than usual I was able to combo as much as I could without fail coz of lag or delay. really good match. in other words it felt a match of 3 bars rather than 2.

Well after having a long grind session with Iie-Kyo I can honestly say the connection was better though there was a 1 frame input delay according to him.Also we ran into the "synchronizing" bug once.
