Re: iphone 4
WE had a little comparison.
iphone4
thinner (not by much)
better hd video recording (a lot less frameskip IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS)
better at taking photos in absolute dark (photos seemed to be sharper)
htc desire
better white balance on photos (people come out more yellowish on the iphone)
brighter flash
bigger screen
BOTH phones seemed to have the "wobble" when recording HD videos. The iphone 4 just didn't seem that sexy when you see it in the flesh. It looks like another iphone, just the sides are metal and it feels more smooth in your hand.
Another thing to notice is that the iphone is simplicity: point and shoot. The HTC gives you iso, contrast etc settings to play with, at the camera interface.
As we were drunk, the comparison got really boring so then we put the phones away and played rock band.

Reason: Desire's video recording is good, but iphone is better in low light conditions

Re: iphone 4
if the battery life is as they say, I'd say the iphone 4 wins.
However, if you just want a smartphone that is practically just as good but wayyyy cheaper, get a htc!
I said I would sell my htc if iphone4 was better, but frankly I don't see the point of spending lots more money. I make calls, I surf, I write, I take photos. The HTC does the job as well as I need it to. I am a little sad at the DESIRE's video recording, but perhaps the htc EVO or wildfire might be better.

Re: iphone 4
I'll say that the iPhone 4's battery life is indeed very much improved over my 3G. If I spent any amount of time streaming music or video over 3G my iPhone 3G would be at something like 10% battery when I got home. Not so with the iPhone 4.
