Confirmed:

  • “Drive Cancel” Special move cancelling (watch video 1:26)
  • Mai (basic same outfit with tweaks)
  • King (new costume)
  • Yuri
  • EX specials
  • 10 colours each!
  • Hyperdrive Mode (A 2k2 style cancel mode)
  • Gauges/Stocks
  • Joe’s qcb + K
  • Joe’s combo DM
  • Counter CD

As you can see in the video, the drive cancel feature is going to be useful for characters who would overwise be open to attack after performing a special move. At 1:26 Raiden lands his shoulder barge on a blocking Clark but cancels it in order to perform another, which is actually a different shoulder barge.  This means Raiden has either a move that is accessible only through a drive cancel, or now has a 2 part shoulder barge.  At 1:52 Iori scum gales Raiden but note there is a little spark effect.  Is this just for aesthetics or did something else happen?  Iori’s never had silly little spark effects on his scum gale…

The Round Entry graphics remind me of Blazblue – sharp with flashes of electricity.  Nice.

At 2:42 Joe throws out three hurricane uppers!  It costs a stock but he gets a whole load of bar as Iori blocks it.  This seems to confirm that characters have a Hyper Drive move.

Beni seems to walk faster than everyone else.

At 3:29 you get to see the Hyperdrive mode in action.  Seems to be the usual cancel move mode, not unlike CC mode, just with more speed and flashier effects.  Note that shortly after, Beni performs crouch B into DP B and the Drive Cancel message comes up, which means the move cannot cancel from crouch B normally.  This is similar to the 2k2 cancel feature.

At 3:48, Beni does c B, c B, fwd B, dwn up B.  His fwd B is cancellable?  It was not a hyper drive cancel.  Holy crap!

The round ends with a DM finish.  It’s said that there are Super KO special effects. O RLY?  I wonder why they did that lol.  I doubt it could match the graphical impact of SFIV’s Ultras but hey, why not.  However, in this video, there was no effect for a normal DM KO.

    FUCK REUSING SPRITES FROM XII.

    Some of them are drawn so badly. ;_;

  2. Toxic Avenger says:

    It’s not like they could have go back to the mvs sprites, specially since how much the public wanted them to move on back in the day.

  3. Gunsmith says:

    There should be no doubt Vice is Iori’s undisclosed team mate. Last team should be K’, Maxima and Whip/Kula. Takuma should be joining Ryo and Robert. As for Kim’s? Hmmm now that’s a good question. I sense a Fatal Fury character, which could mean Duck King or Blue Mary. I can’t really understand how Raiden would join Kim, storywise, so any FF character could join, even… Yamazaki…

  4. RaohSmash says:

    gee what about all the “new” ppl from 11 that were suppose to be part of the ash saga. they all have potential to show up.

    momoko, oswald, duck, whip, gato, hotaru, vanessa, mary, ramon, k, maxima, kula, malin, kasumi, eiji, shingo, jenet, tizoc, adel;

    not likely to appear are the sho, gai, jyazu, silber; ps2 cameos geese, tung, mr big

  5. Kim’s? Hmmm now that’s a good question.

    Remember that Kim’s original objective was to reform villains by having them work, and entering them in the tournament was like a test on how hard they worked.

    Now, let’s not forget that Raiden was a garou villain, but eventually reformed and became a good guy later. From the hidden data in the xbox port, we got that among the rejected characters, 2 of them are garou villains just like Raiden (they where Billy and Hwa Jai), so it’s likely that any of those two would be the other team mate.

    And, from those two is Hwa Jai the one that reforms and becomes a good guy in the end.

    Vice?! Don’t tease me Gunsmith! ;_; I’m really glad King is back, and I’m honestly looking forward to seeing if all the “NO MAI, NO BUY!” fans are actually going to use her…

  7. FataCon says:

    Excuse the double post, but after watching the vids again, I’m hoping that the Hyperdrive Mode will be closer to 2k2′s BC cancel mode as far as movement goes. I felt like movement during the Critical Counter system in XII felt a bit stiff, but maybe it was just me.
