I get what you mean ST, it really does seem like that, but in the end, regardless of what level, everyone went Down the Irons and Fleet Footed, both under 20 boosters. I think it really just came down to everyone wanting to try out everything when the game was still fresh and new.

TA - you can put your achievements into your forum sig, just as PSN users do with their trophies. PSN users can now advertise their trophies to facebook, much to your normal friends going "wtf?"

AW - did you get this all done in one draft or what? Damn, it reads really well, leaving you wanting more at the end- you slut!

The former.

It seems to me that if boosters affect your character's abilities in a way to make him better at something with no tradeoff, then the person with the best boosters always has an advantage over someone with none. Which doesn't sit too well with me.

But whatever, I prefer Quake-style multiplayer games anyway.

Doubt that the boosters were not overpowered? Or doubted that getting to level 14 was easy?

I'm honestly surprised at how quickly you are to come to snap judgments, probably because you seem so even keeled most of the time. Besides, you should believe me, Wind and I have hit 53+.

Somehow I doubt that, but I'm probably not going to play UC2 online once I get it anyway, so it's irrelevant to me either way, I guess.

Nah, other than Down the Irons, none of the perks in Uncharted had any lasting impact on the game play, and believe you got that at level 14, pretty easy to get.

Slight tangent - one thing that sort of annoyed me about UC2 multiplayer back when I was playing the beta was how the perks affected your effectiveness in battle. I detest grinding of all kinds, and I'd hate to be in a multiplayer game where someone beat me just because he had put a few additional hours into the game.

From what I understand CoD4's perk system is superior because the perks don't improve your abilities, but give you access to more equipment, allowing you to specialize rather than just making you better at everything.

I'm no CoD fan but from a game design perspective its use of perks seems to make more sense.

What I actually find quite odd is that with those achievements "icons" you can actually do absolutely nothing but having them sitting there. I would have liked the opportunity of having them assigned as icons of my console menus or certain particular notices.

Also, a good thing of these medals is that they can more or less show if a player as done as much as "barely touched a game" or "has gone totally insane playing it". If I know a user who's tastes matches my own, I can check the achievements list and take his most played games as reference on what could interest me in the future.

I love your prose Wind. If you were a hot girl, I'd marry you.

I was a little disappointed about how you didn't go further into the absurdity of achievements. There's nothing like adding a time wasting system on a hobby that already constitutes a waste of time.
