In this video, we have quite a cagey Iori, unsuprisingly meek against King, who isn’t falling for any cross up into scum gale tactics. I lol’d. Iori is properly not taking any chances against basic strategy King. It’s like fighting a Ryu that can’t DP, but the fireballs are too fast and if you jump too late, you know you’re going to get hit with dwn+C.
It really does sting to see King’s stand C smark someone in the face. Even though it doesn’t have range, it stinks of Sagat/Krauser type abuse.
You know you’re watching a good Japanese match when the player has no energy left and goes nuts trying to kill off the opponent, normally wiping off 90% of the opponent’s health in the process. They’re just good at that, and I don’t know why. Perhaps it’s the threat of losing 100 yen? Kamikaze spirit? Who knows? It’s just great. Unfortunately, this is not one of those matches. You will facepalm at the kamikaze spirit nose dive into King’s fireball.
The question is – what should he have done? Not much to do against King but play cagey, in my opinion, hope you can guess the fireball and jump over, otherwise block and try to out poke. So, in my opinion, well played, and bad luck you got out-guessed.
Now a good K’ player will throw all kinds of shit at you, repeatedly and faster than diorreah. It seems this guy was still feeling scared. Oh and you know that Japanese desperation-comeback spirit I was talking about? You get to see it, just not with the player you were thinking of!
I had to chop up these vids to get them to fit on youtube, and waited till they were no longer available from a-cho. I wonder how much their server is costing them? Why remove the videos?
I’ll leave the commentary to you. Unless you want me to continue?
Note on the 21st March they’re having their classic evo tournament, featuring… KOF… 98. No not ultimate match, classic 98, Last Blade 1 and Mark of the Wolves. Should be good watching, if we can catch the videos.
