My fingers were itching in that kind of I need to punch someone repeatedly until they explode kind of way, you know, like when you finish work, and as XII is not quite out, I decided to load up SFIV and settle for spinning people’s craniums into the concrete.
However-
There was barely anyone up for Championship Mode. So it didn’t take off? But, double blind, so good! Oh well. So I went fishing for player matches. Flicking through a few screens to find decent opponents I get the message that went something like:
‘There are no available matches, try again?’
So I did. I got the message AGAIN. I tried a simple player match. Er… where the hell is everyone? A couple of scrubs, but… basically only a small number of people were online. The same players kept coming up when I hit refresh, and I couldn’t even connect to them.
I can’t even be bothered to try again now, just incase it was some sort of server glitch. I honestly hope the hordes of Ken got bored and went to play something else. Who cares? But it does raise a point. If you want to play KOF XII online, you need to get the game ASAP, because the same thing will probably happen: casual gamers will play another game, and you’ll be left with the same old (boring) players, using the usual top tier characters and whooping your ass as they know you all too well.
Worries aside I still had to deal with my boredom. I went to the PS3 store. Wha- Gunstar Heroes? WTF! I checked out a few videos on youtube. Ah. One of the best games on the Megadrive (Sega Genesis to you yanks). I can still remember the smell of it, my first console. But anyway, er… really cool game… but er… graphics are a bit painful to watch. But online co-op!!! AWESOME. It’s on XBLA too. Who needs to punch people in the head when you can shoot (and throw) them?
