For those of you who don’t know, Optimus Prime is actually called Convoy in Japan. You have probably heard of the new Transformers movies toy line but this series has nothing to do with it – much like the Alternators/Binaltech series before them, Alternity is a slightly smaller series with even more replicas of modern vehicles, using classic characters such as Megatron and Starscream- just think of it as an upgrade. Look, the bottom line is I wouldn’t have have bothered but these are simply GORGEOUS. Note that if you buy this in Europe, it’ll be made of plastic – if you import it from Japan, it’ll be made of metal.
Tired of toys, sure you are – liar! Pick one of these beauties up and you’ll be in love all over again, even if it’s just for five minutes before you put it back onto the shelf to admire it. To be honest some of the vehicles weren’t all that appealing – I’m not so into Wrangler Jeeps for instance. And some of the robot forms were a bit fugly. But this version of Prime, oh wow. I’ll be picking this one up for sure. The first two editions sported the classic red and blue paintjob and all silver. A totally limited edition has been announced in black. *splurt*
